If I run any of those files with ffplay, I get the same output and it plays fine on my laptop. Here's the ffprobe output of one of my movies with the same issue. Here's the ffprobe output of my test file. Maybe's for compatibility Dolby Digital is just fine. Though when DTS correctly converted, it sounded amazing. I'm also curious why Dolby Digital is used instead of Dolby Digital Plus. Unless there's something wrong on my end or my server's end, I hope this gets fixed. My reason for posting this is that I'd like to make it aware that AAC 5.1 to AC3 5.1 (Dolby Digital) doesn't sound good on the Android TV app. It will convert AAC 5.1 to Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 just fine, but unfortunately it won't play DTS 5.1, so I have to switch to Converting. The only solution I've found so far is to play content with an external app, and use the built-in Sony video player which came pre-installed with Google TV. It's like watching a 144p video on YouTube. When I play DTS 5.1 content, I successfully get Dolby Digital 5.1 and it sounds incredible.īut when I play AAC 5.1 content, I also get Dolby Digital 5.1 but the bitrate sounds really low. Searching through the Emby app settings, I find Convert Unsupported Audio to Dolby Digital. My only option is to stick to Dolby codecs. The Sonos setup does not support DTS, and whilst it does support Multichannel PCM, Android 9 or higher apparently doesn't, though it will passthrough from other inputs such as my Playstation. ![]() However, anything I play though Emby gets converted to Dolby Digital Plus 2.0 except for AC3, EAC3, AC4, anything Dolby will passthrough, awesome. ![]() Crunchyroll will give Dolby Digital Plus 2.0, which is also fine. When I'm using something like Netflix, I get Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 which works fine. My TV is setup with eARC and to pass through and auto convert to Dolby Digital Plus if necessary (i think?). Unfortunately I've been struggling to get 5.1 channel content through Emby to work with ease. So, the easiest way for WebTorrent Desktop to get support is if Chromium just added support too. For that reason, Microsoft Edge and Safari both support playing AC3 files in the

![]() Our web client has long suffered of a massive amount of technical debt, due to the project we forked from only providing minified versions of the source and using antiquated web technologies. ![]() To prevent any data loss, please backup your existing data files before starting the migration process. While the migration process has been well tested over the past few months, issues may arise during the migration process. Your databases will be automatically migrated when you first launch Jellyfin 10.6. With EF Core, however, we leave the heavy lifting to the database engine, leading to better response times and less memory usage overall. For large databases, this could result in hundreds of megabytes of memory lost to caching. Part of the improved memory usage is due to our current inherited custom ORM caching everything in memory to make up for its slowness. Currently, there is still a bridge to make the link between the new EF Core databases and the existing code, which will be cleaned up down the line. While there is still a ways to go, EF Core should bring faster database queries, support for multiple database engines, cleaner code, and significantly reduced memory usage. Over the course of this cycle, barronpm has been deciphering and untangling this mess, and managed to successfully migrate the ActivityDB ( jf#2970) and the UserDB ( jf3148) to EF Core. Information was split in multiple places, sometimes even duplicated and generally filtered in C# instead of using the database engine's faster processing. Previously, Jellyfin used a combination of SQLite databases (yes, multiple ones), XML files and C# spaghetti to perform database operations. It's been on our plate for a while, but thanks to new team member barronpm, we can finally say that the rewrite of our database model is progressing at a steady pace! The feature is expected to be improved in future versions of Jellyfin, but has already been used by multiple users during the development cycle, with a delay between clients of only a couple of milliseconds. Thanks to first-time contributor OancaAndrei, who submitted pull requests to both the server and the web client ( jf#2733, jf-web#1011) in order to lay out the foundations for this, you can now watch movies together with friends and family, from the comfort of your respective homes. There is no limit on the number of users in a room and you are free to join the same room with the same user from multiple clients as well. SyncPlay allows you to create rooms that other users or clients can join in order to share a common viewing experience. We're proud to announce Jellyfin 10.6's headline feature: SyncPlay. With the current global situation, it makes a lot of sense, and Jellyfin isn't lagging behind. ![]() Other services have recently launched various ways to view your content together with friends. ![]() Because if games don’t have companion apps, if they don’t have websites - we have 450 different social media websites supporting all of our franchises, so we have requirements for integrated development that not only keeps the core game alive but keeps the ecosystem around that game humming, because if you’re not delivering content each and every day then the engagement drops.” “It takes a village now, to build these games,” Peter Moore, then COO of EA, said in 2015 at the External Development Summit, “and I’m not just talking about the game itself. But it’s also been creative, reshaping what form publishers think games should take, pushing them to focus on fewer titles that occupy more of their players lives. The change has been partly technological, driven by the escalating complications of new consoles. Outsourcing coordinators are used by Bethesda, which makes Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and PopCap Games, which makes mobile games like Plants vs. Today, the practice is so common that many game studios created full-time coordinator positions to manage outsourcing (in the credits for Horizon, Head of Outsourcing Anton Wiegert appears in the first three minutes of the 34-minute sequence). In 2008, an anonymous poll of 200 major video game studios found that 86 percent relied on outsourcing for some aspect of development. A 2001 study found outsourcing contracts were too small and haphazard to measure, but by 2006, 40 percent of game studios were using outsourcers for background or environmental art. By comparison, Virtuos has 1,300 employees spread across 11 offices in eight countries. Horizon’s developer Guerrilla Games has around 270 employees in its Amsterdam offices. In many cases, outsourcing companies have grown even bigger than the clients who hire them. Among the others: 3Lateral Studio in Novi Sad, Serbia, which helped character modeling and facial animation for human characters Territory Studios, a graphic design company in New York that specializes in interface design Audiomotion in London, which helped with motion capture Kokku in Recife, Brazil helped build models for some of the robotic animals and XPEC Art Center in Taipei, which helped build environmental assets to fill the game’s world. Virtuos was only one of 18 different outsourcing companies that worked on the game. Sixty-five of Virtuos’s employees spent over two years building 11 of Horizon’s 32 enemy robot types modeling many of the bandit settlements spread across the game world. Instead it’s about managing a global network of labor that builds, programs, animates, and designs. Thanks to outsourcing companies like Virtuos, making games today is less about building levels or creating characters. During the same period, she’s watched from the frontlines as outsourced labor became the backbone of game development. In her 12 years with Virtuos, Jie has gone from entry-level QA tester to her current position as a project management officer, helping oversee the company’s project management structure on all of its different games. It’s even better with well-reviewed games like Horizon, which makes her think, “‘Hey my name is in the credits, this is my game!’” she told me in November, when I visited the company headquarters in Shanghai. The incomprehensible thicket of names, thousands of them, goes on for more than 34 minutes.īut for Zhu Jie, a 33-year-old with wireframe glasses and bright pink hair, credits are often the best part of a game, a rare moment of recognition for her and her colleagues at Virtuos Ltd, a company in China that builds 3D art and levels for the biggest game companies in the world: Sony, Microsoft, and Electronic Arts, among others. I checked my phone, went to the bathroom, did the dishes, and refilled my water glass, before returning to the sofa to find the credits still going. When I finished Horizon: Zero Dawn last year, I began creating excuses to get away from the screen as soon as the first unfamiliar name hit the screen. Now, the credits for most major video games are interminable. ![]() The closing credits of Super Mario 64, released in 1996, took about three minutes to list 32 people. Wambus gives you a slingshot (a Sauce Slinger) and asks you to get the Bunger into a corral. (This will happen frequently when you approach the Grumps, and they will have some sort of dialogue to enhance the relationships between these creatures.) This grumpy Grumpus is growing Ketchup plants … because that’s a thing here. The game will take over so that you can watch a conversation between Filbo and another Grumpus, Wambus. I think this sort of collaborative atmosphere really brings home the idea that, however absurd things are, the residents of Snacktooth are a community. But that’s one way our naivete can be a strength, because seeing them all play off of each other’s energy was wonderful. It turns out this is pretty uncommon for games to do, especially with a cast this large. It took a lot of restraint not to geek out around so many industry icons gathered into one place! During the 'commercial break' there was a half hour pause while the two ships 'Broke-away', our flight deck was cleared and Keith transferred Frank and Graham across to HMS Boxer. I get seen briefly on the TV footage, taking a photo from the door to the bridge as Anneka approaches to get the clue from the Captain. What she was unaware of though was that he had a strategically placed 'zap-sticker' (the ships crest) in his hand and it stuck nicely to her jump-suit). "Ooh - someone has got their hand on my bottom", said Anneka, as she was given a 'helping hand' up the ladder by the Chief Bosuns Mate. To get to the bridge and meet the Captain, Anneka had to climb a vertical ladder. Anneka, Graham & Frank jump out of the helicopter and run up the side of Nottingham to the foc's'le where (conveniently !!) a 'light jackstay' was rigged up - Anneka was quickly fitted with a harness, hooked onto the 'traveller' and then hoisted up into the air and pulled across to the bows of HMS Boxer. On the day Keith couldn't land on the flight deck of HMS Boxer (we conveniently had a 'keep-fit' class taking place) so had to land on the deck of (again conveniently placed) HMS Nottingham. ![]() We had run through the practice the day before with the producer acting as Anneka as they worked through the routine. ![]() I was serving on HMS BOXER when Anneka had to get the clue from our Captain (series five episode 4 aired on ). |
